Pio V Corpuz Police Encounter with NPA Yielded Slain Former Police Chief Gun
A meeting engagement ensued at about 8:30 AM on 09 April 2009 between a team of Pio V Corpuz MPS Warrant Servers led by PO1 Jomel Bartolay and three (3) others with undetermined number of Communist Terrorists (CTs) at Barangay Cabangyaran of said municipality. The team of PO1 Bartolay is supposed to serve a Warrant of Arrest to Jasuero Tunacao, Jr. for Robbery with Homicide under Criminal Case No. 1960 at the aforesaid barangay when the encounter took place that resulted to the Wounding-in-Action (WIA) of PO1 Garry D. Lupango who was immediately brought to the hospital for treatment and the lost of the personal firearm of PO1 Marlon D Ibo, a caliber .45 PT model pistol with serial number NXK41348 with license number 81576311183901. Accordingly, barangay folks who witnessed the NPA withdrawal confirmed that a tall mestizo looking that fitted the profile description of CT Nonoy Espinosa @Jimmy/Joseph is being carried and already dead resulting from the aforesaid meeting engagement.
Joint reinforcement troops from 507th PPMG and Pio V Corpuz MPS led by PCI ESTERCASIO PIMENTEL, Group Director, conducted hot pursuit combat operation that led to the recovery of a caliber 9mm Pietro Beretta pistol with serial number N54782Z at the encounter scene. Firearms records verification made by Masbate Police Provincial Office yielded that the aforesaid .9mm recovered pistol was issued to the late PSI ALBERTO T MONTECALVO, then Chief of Police of the aforesaid MPS, who was killed and robbed by hired gunman CT Nonoy Espinosa @Jimmy/Joseph and as masterminded by Jasuero Tunacao, et.al. sometime at 5:00PM on 02 March 2007 at Barangay Lampuyang, Pio V Corpuz.
