Masbate PNP bares significant accomplishments for the month of December 2011

The Masbate Police Provincial Office humbly presents its accomplishments for December 2011.

The intensified implementation and enforcement of Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) proved effective through strengthened police visibility, intensified checkpoints and enhanced patrol, and other police interventions yielded remarkable results for the peace and order situation in the province.

“Due to the strict implementation of PIPS, it prevented individuals from transporting and carrying illegal weapon which can be used for criminal purposes and also prevented the commission and escalation of crimes in the province”, according to the Provincial Director.

“Based on our record, there were five (5) individuals who were caught red handed illegally possessing firearms with a total of five (5) confiscated and recovered assorted firearms of different calibers and make and one (1) low-powered firearm with an expired licensed was also surrendered”, the Provincial Director added.

The unrelenting campaign on the service of warrants, which formed part of the PNP OPLAN PAGTUGIS against wanted criminals, resulted to the arrest of twenty-seven other wanted persons.

On the drive against illegal gambling in the province in the line with eradicating the lotteng and other number games, it arrested five (5) persons and confiscated several gambling paraphernalia to include the bet money amounting to six hundred twenty-pesos (P620.00) and the filing of criminal cases in court. This contributed in making Masbate “lotteng”-free.


On its drive to curb illegal fishing in the province, it effectively negated and apprehended forty-four (44) persons and confiscated fifteen (15) fishing boats, one (1) commercial fishing vessel and other fishing paraphernalia.

The campaign against the drug menace is equally remarkable as exemplified by the arrest of one (1) drug pusher, consisting of the seizure of 0.1 grams of shabu with DDB value of drugs seized amounting to one thousand pesos (P1,000.00).

In spite of the strict prohibition on illegal cutting of coconut trees, Masbate PNP were able to confiscate illegally cut coconut lumbers  with a total of three-hundred sixty-six (366) board feet and estimated value of four thousand six hundred fifty-eight pesos (P4,658.00)

As far as Crime Statistics for the month of December 2011, it shows a total of one hundred twenty-three (123) crime incidents as compared to the recorded crime volume in the same period of 2010 registering an increase of 29.42%.

The statistics revealed that on the aspect of crimes against person the following distribution were itemized such as fifteen (15) for murder, one (1) for homicide, seventy-nine (79) for physical injury, and four (4) for rape. While, on the crimes against property, it consists of the following: seven (7) for robbery, and seventeen (17) for theft.

On non-index crimes however ninety-six (96) were reported for the period compared to 92 of same period of year 2010 registering an increase of 4.34%.

With this development, the PNP Provincial Command here in Masbate under the leadership of Police Senior Superintendent HERIBERTO OBIAS OLITOQUIT, is committed to further beef up anti-crime operations in the province in order to better serve and protect the people.
