Masbate City cops file murder charges on the suspect of the shooting spree

The Masbate City Police Station, headed by Police Superintendent RODOLFO CERVANTES ABELLA, Officer-In-Charge, has filed a murder case against the identified suspect on the shooting spree that transpired at about 2:20 in the morning of January 1, 2012 at Purok 7, Brgy Kinamaligan, Masbate City wherein the victims were spouses Generoso Maglente y Montilla, 50 years old, married, mechanic; Mary Jane Maglente y Bautista, 40 years old, married, jobless; and their daughter Ruth Maglente y Bautista, 8 years old, Grade 2 pupil, all residents of said place.

Reports said that the victims were all rushed to Masbate Provincial Hospital, Masbate City, however, Generoso was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician; while Mary Jane and Ruth with severe injuries sustained at the leg and arms were now recuperating at said hospital.

Responding elements of Masbate City Police Station led by Police Senior Inspector EDGAR B DELFIN immediately proceeded to the crime scene and conducted pursuit operation that led to identification and arrest of the suspect.

The suspect identified as Junil Gonzaga y Cos of legal age, married, and a resident of Purok 7, Sitio Bagalihog, Brgy Kinamaligan, Masbate City was charged before the National Prosecution Service, City Prosecution Office, Masbate City docketed under NPS Number V-04-INQ-12A-00184 dated January 2, 2012 thru inquest proceedings. 

The arrest of the suspect is considered a major breakthrough on the case.
